History of Movico
First mobile facility: Kellogg's Kids Action Truck
The first mobile facility was developed in 1993 – under the company name Wim van de Waarsenburg Productions – for “Kellogg’s Cornflakes”: the so-called Kellogg’s Kids Action Truck. The combination of original promotional activities, an extensive stage program and various play attractions for children brought together in a mobile form of marketing, made the Kellogg’s Kids Action Truck a huge success.
Introduction of the Giant Expo
Two years later, in 1995, Movico introduced a completely new type of mobile facility for a European Roadshow of Philips: the Giant Expo. A world-class eye-catcher equipped with all amenities, entirely developed and based on the idea that a rapid relocation is both cost-effective and essential to clients who wish to generate maximum exposure at a different location every day.
First project in the world of Sports: Tour de France
The Giant Expo shined in the spotlight at the start of the Tour de France in Den Bosch in 1996. This resulted in the first project in the world of sports: Tour de France 1997. The adventure began with the Giant Expo, but soon many other mobile facilities travelled off to follow this international cycling spectacle!
Movico: Mobile Visual Communication
Due to the increase in the number of international clients and roadshow projects, in 2000 "Wim van de Waarsenburg Productions" was renamed into Movico: Mobile Visual Communication. Moreover, a 5000m² large production hall and office building was built for administration purposes and the maintenance, storage and interior and exterior modifications of the mobile facilities.
Introduction of the Expo Mobile
2001.(Inter)national roadshows with a long lead time and multiple relocations per week are becoming more and more popular. Movico’s B2B & B2C divisions expand and a new double extendable trailer is added to the fleet: the Expo Mobile. With Assembléon as the frontrunner, many projects in which both the exterior and the interior are completely adapted to the corporate identity of the customer soon follow.
10 years in Sports: Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, 24hs le Mans...
In 2006, Movico has been active in sports for 10 years and the company still makes its annual trip to France. With more than 25 facilities including various press and hospitality areas, mobile production rooms, TV studios, tribunes and stages, Movico has become main supplier of the Tour de France.
It has become impossible to imagine the world of sports without Movico and its mobile facilities can be seen at many major and minor sports events, such as Giro ‘d Italia, Tour de Pologne, Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta, several classic bicycle races, 24 Heures du Mans, various rally events, Memorial van Damme and many others.
Expansion and distribution: Asia and North America
2007 is characterized by further expanding and upgrading the fleet to more than 40 mobile facilities and solutions. Trade shows, educational projects and projects with special built-in interiors are increasingly popular. Even clients from Asia and the United States manage to find us!
15 years Movico: Eye-catching at trade shows ánd in the desert
In 2008, Movico turns 15 and this special anniversary is celebrated with a very diverse program. The mobile finish arch and the ceremony protocolaire are developed for the Tour de France, several facilities travel across the Atlantic Ocean for the Dakar Rally in Argentina and Chile and our world class eye-catchers are literally and figuratively increasingly present at major international exhibitions!
Ready for snow and the world of show… 20 years Movico!
In the period leading up to Movico's 20th anniversary ambitious new steps are taken. Various mobile facilities are sent off to the snow: Movico goes skiing!
And as if that weren’t challenge enough, in 2011 again a completely new facility is developed: the mobile Radio & Television Studio. Inspired by past experiences, this double storey facility offers our customers a camera platform and control room in one. Not only very practical, but also very popular with our clients. First, ESPN pursued and monitored the FIFA Women's World Cup and in 2013 and 2014 Channel One Russia is touring through Russia to directly report on various sports events - including the Winter Olympics in Sochi!
