In 1993, Movico (back then called Wim van de Waarsenburg Produkties), developed the first mobile facility: the Action Truck. This driving playground including a stage for presentations turned out to be a golden one! It is the ultimate promotion and activation tool for brands that want to establish live contact with children and their families. The combination of promotional activities, an extensive stage program and a playground for children – cast in a mobile form of marketing – makes the Action Truck a huge success for many brands, with Kellogg’s as leading example.
1995 - The arrival of the Giant Expo
Two years later, in 1995, Movico introduced a completely new type of mobile facility for an European roadshow of Philips: the Giant Expo. A world-class eye-catcher with maximum comfort, fully conceived and developed with the thought that a quick set-up and dismantling is both imperative and cost-effective for clients who want to generate maximum exposure at each location.
1996 - First project in sports: Tour de France
During the start of the Tour de France in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 1996, the Giant Expo created for the Philps CD-I roadshow completely stole the show. This made the first project in sports a fact: Tour de France 1997. The adventure started with two mobile VIP rooms, and not long after that other mobile facilities folllowed for this international cycling spectacle!
2000 - Movico: Mobile Visual Communication
Due to increasing number of international clients and roadshow projects, in 2000 ‘Wim van de Waarsenburg Produkties’ was renamed into Movico: Mobile Visual Communication. Accordingly, a more than 5000 m2 hall with office spaces were built for the transformation, maintenance and storage of the trailers.
2001 - The arrival of the Expo Mobile
International roadshows with a long lead time and several relocations per week are becoming more popular. The B2B and B2C markets of Movico are expanding and a new trailer is added to the fleet: the double expandable trailer, or also called: the Expo Mobile. Shortly after, many projects follow in which both the exterior and exterior are being completely adapted to the clients’ corporate identity.
2006 - 10 years in sports: the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, 24hr Le Mans
Since 2006, Movico has been a key player in sports and has been traveling to France each year. With over 25 mobile facilities including various press and hospitality trailers, mobile control rooms, TV studios, mobile stands and stages, Movico is the head supplier of the Tour de France. Movico has claimed its place in world of sports and its mobile facilities can be seen at small and large sports event, such as: Giro d’Italia, Tour of Poland, Tour of Portugal, many cycling classics, 24 hours of Le Mans, various rally events, Memorial van Damme and many other international sports events.
2007 - Moving up borders: Asia & North America
2007 is characterized by the further expansion and upgrading of the fleet to more than 40 mobile facilities and solutions. Trade fairs, educational roadshows and projects with a special, tailor-made interior are becoming extremely popular. Even clients from Asia and the United States know where to find us!
2008 - 15 years of Movico: giant eye-catchers at trade fairs and in the desert
Movico is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2008 in a special way. We developed a mobile finish arch and a podium for the ceremony protoclaire for the biggest annual sports events of the world. Next to that, various mobile facilities are moving over the Atlantic Ocean to America in order to provide the press and organization a fully equipped working place during the toughest rally of the world. Our giant eye-catchers are literally and figuratively present at large international exhibitions!
2011 - Winter proof tires and touring through Russia… Movico is 20 years old!
In the run to Movico’s 20th anniversary, new and ambitious steps are being made. Various mobile facilities have now entered the snow: Movico is present at winter sports! And if that hasn’t been challenging enough, in 2011 a completely new facility has entered the fleet: the mobile radio & television studio. Inspired with experiences in the past, this double-decker provides a camera platform and control room in one. Not only practical, but also very popular amongst our clients. For instance, ESPN followed the FIFA Women’s World Cup and Channel One is touring through Russia in 2013 and 2014 in order to beat various sports events such as the Olympic Games in Sochi. 2016 - Acquisition of Movico
In 2016, Movico was acquired by a group of Dutch investors. Rogier Wentink, together with Floris Dullaart, Han de Groot, Jan Willem Gerritsen and the current management, acquire Movico. Since the start of Movico, twenty years ago, the company has developed into the leading and largest specialist in the field of mobile event marketing in Europe. With the arrival of Rogier Wentink et al. and the ambitious plans of the management team, Movico is ready for further international growth.
2018-1 - Acquisition Racetrailer.com
Movico Group has acquired a majority stake in Racetrailer.com, the leading provider of transport solutions for car and motor sports teams in Europe and beyond. This is a logical step for both companies, because the activities are perfectly aligned. Racetrailer.com specialises in the purchase, rental and sale of trailers for car and motorcycle racing teams. Within a short period of time, the company has grown to become the leading provider in this field in Europe with customers in Formula 1, WRC, DTM, Formula E and FIA WEC, among others
2018-2 - Takeover assembly activity
In addition to a majority stake in Racetrailer.com, Movico Group has also taken over the assembly activities for the construction of race trailers from DRV – a subsidiary of PON Holdings. With this strategic step, the Movico Group gains better control over the entire chain, from construction to the end product.
